Dr Dermot Phelan

Dermot Phelan, MB, BAO, BCh, PhD, FASE, FACC, is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Gragg Endowed Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine, and Enterprise Lead of Cardiovascular Imaging for Advocate Health.
He also directs the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center and Gragg Center for Cardiovascular Performance at Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute. Internationally recognized for his expertise in cardiomyopathies, sports cardiology, and multimodality imaging, Dr. Phelan has helped shape clinical practice through influential research, including the description of the “apical sparing” pattern in cardiac amyloidosis. He currently serves on the American Society of Echocardiography Board of Directors.
